November 2015 Races

As originally planned, I didn’t intend to join any race for the rest of the year. I’m saving some bucks for my marathon trip next year. But the universe had been generous and gave me 1 discounted and 2 free race kits this month! Who will say no to that?! Yay! Continue reading

Running My First 5km Race

I have been working for a wellness company for years now. Who would not be intrigued to join a 5km fun run when everybody is signing up? I made a few attempts, but I did not make it to the race day. So like most of those very excited and eager souls during race registration, I ended up collecting race shirt souvenirs. Anyway, because we’re employees, we’re just paying half of the race fee. Nothing much to lose, I thought.

The Caliraya 360 34km Race Challenge

Even in choosing a race to join, I often go for something unique.

I heard about this race since last year. But my schedule did not permit me to join at that time. So this year, I made sure that I get a slot in this event. I felt so decided and excited that I signed up in the first day of registration without telling anyone of my runner friends (they joined me later on) and without knowing what kind of challenges are going to welcome me along the race course.

I just simply wanted to run while seeing trees along the race course with the view of Caliraya Lake. I thought that this will be refreshing and pleasant. It was something different than the usual city races, where all I see are cars and buildings. It was only 34km, so this should be an easy and chill run.

What I didn’t expect was that, the race was seriously challenging!

Angkor Empire Marathon 2015: Their 2nd, My 1st

After completing 3 full marathons in the Philippines, I felt a yearning to run outside the country. I guess it’s every marathoner’s dream to go to the next level. We all started running a kilometer (km), then pushed ourselves to run 10 km, 21 km, and finally had the guts to run 42 freakin’ km. Every time we cross a finish line, we set another goal, and that is to run faster and beat our personal records (PR). Continue reading

What Makes Milo Dagupan a Prestige Race

Finally, I was joining a half marathon after four long months! I have often raced in half marathons before and it still gives me butterflies when it’s a Milo Marathon leg.

Me and Abby recently joined the first of the 39th Milo Marathon qualifying leg in Dagupan City. “Qualifying” is such overwhelming. We actually came here to simply chill for a weekend travel and run. Our goal was to get the prestigious 21km finisher’s medal and the Milo loot bag.

“Just that? What’s in it for you?”, you may be asking me now. To get that “Medal of Honor” means that I have to at least maintain a running pace of 7 minutes and 8 seconds per kilometer or to finish running 21km within the cut-off time of 2 hours and 30 minutes. That is hell fast for me and my short legs!

First Love

He was my first.
Definitely not the last.
I’ve had a few after him. Some were better, the others were not.

He was the one who introduced me to running. He ignited my passion.
He made me crave and pushed me to the limits.
He taught me how to get stronger.
We conquered different kinds of roads and weather together.

He carried me to a number of finish lines.
And for once, he never let me down
There were times when I wanted to give up
But as stubborn as he is, he refused to stop
He kept on running

I never wanted to let him go.
And so I kept him with me, somewhere only I know
Yes, I’ve moved on and found someone new.
But first love never dies – maybe it’s true.

I’m sharing you a secret, hoping that you’ll keep it.
This is my love letter to NIKE ZOOM, my first running shoes. 🙂
